Ok, this site has been around a while, but I just really took notice over the last few days. Tumblr basically allows you to create a mini-blog quickly and easily of things you find, think of, conversations you have, quotes, and more.
Why is this cool? Well for one thing, it takes some effort to get into this site for me and actually make a post as often as I’d like. Tumblr makes it easy, because I can actually make a post there without doing anything at all. For instance, when I digg a story at Digg.com, it will automatically make a note in my Tumblr blog. When I post an image at Flickr, it shows up. When I bookmark a page using Ma.gnolia.com, it shows up.
I also use IMified to post directly to Tumblr using only Google Talk from my computer or Blackberry.
This essentially creates a record of what I’m doing online every day. This makes it much easier for you to stalk me. ;)
One thing Tumblr is missing (for me) is comments. It’s meant to be a bare bones mini-blog, which it is, but I need some interaction… I hear they’re adding an advanced new commenting system soon.
Also, I took it upon myself to edit/create a new Tumblr theme. It’s a modification of one of their existing themes, but much cleaner and easier to read.
My Tumblr blog is at elliottkosmicki.com. Oh, I didn’t tell you? You can either take yourname.tumblr.com - or hook up a domain name that you already own. Pretty sweet.
Later!
