Falling Off The Earth

Yeah, that’s right. I did that. This has been the busiest summer I can remember… every weekend being almost completely filled with events. During the week, I have just enough in my tank to go to work, get home and work a little more, and then crash to start all over again. By the time Friday rolls around, I’ve just gathered enough energy to dive into another full weekend.

To keep everyone updated, here’s a few key things that come to mind that I’ve either done or learned recently:

1.) In mid-July I relaunched my Beat League site (for the last time I hope). It’s now finally setup as a social network community for hip hop producers, rappers, singers, and fans. Pretty much how I envisioned it to be when I started the domain in 2002.

2.) Jimmy Buffett. This was a new experience for me… an all-day parking lot fiasco of a party and then a standing-room only concert for 3 hours to finish it off. He was in Alpine Valley at the end of the July… I guess this is going to be a yearly thing for Mandi and I now. There were lots of boobies at least… although Mandi covered my eyes for most of them.

3.) Notebooks. I’ve really really got back into Moleskine notebooks. They’re the notebook of legends, and I plan on filling mine up with my crazy wisdom so I have physical objects to be passed down or discovered by future generations. I’m on a crazy buying-spree of these little gems… I keep telling Mandi that at least I’m not obsessed with something real expensive.

4.) I found a great online back-up solution called Mozy. For $5 per month, you can backup as many files as you want. It’s great.

5.) Another web-solution I’m trying out is Mvelope. It’s a financial/budget manager that uses the traditional envelope solution of budgeting (an envelope full of money for each category you need to spend in). It’s a paid service for reasonable rates, but I’m giving it the 30-day trial first.

6.) We’re super busy at work right now… I’m currently working on redesigning all of our product pages to look and work more efficiently. After that, there’s a long long list of projects to take me through the end of the year.

7.) I’m quitting smoking again. This week is my last as I am combining two different new methods most people don’t try. One is Zero Smoke, which uses magnets on your ear similar to acupuncture or laser therapy. The other is the book The Easy Way to Stop Smoking by Allen Carr. This book has a hypnotic effect that has helped millions of people quit smoking without any traditional methods.

8.) Mandi’s family picnic was last weekend… met most of her extended family, which was fun… a long drive into Illinois… but fun.

9.) Movie’s I’ve seen lately include: Transformers (4/5), Simpsons (4/5), Unknown (3.5/5), Premonition (3.5/5)… there’s others too but those are the ones that stand out.

10.) Oh, I helped Derek and Angie move into their first new house! I don’t know how they fit all that crap into their 2-bedroom apartment.

Coming up I have a couple birthday’s, Labor Day plans, a wedding in September, Cardnials/Brewers, and plenty more to keep me busy. I just can’t wait till October… I’m going to attempt to keep every weekend free.

Make every day the best since yesterday.
